Some background information about Mia
My name is Mia and I am the company secretary for a student business ran by the company programme – Young Enterprise.
I decided to take part in Young Enterprise Company Programme because?
It is a great opportunity to gain skills and learn how to run a business. Young Enterprise is also a part of the skills section for the Duke of Edinburgh award, meaning I can complete my award whilst taking part in Young Enterprise.
What did Young Enterprise Company programme involve? And what my role was and what I did outside of my role
The Young Enterprise company programme involves creating a business, raising capital, marketing and selling products. This programme builds confidence, teamwork and resilience for students, meaning they stand out to employers in the future. My role was company secretary, and I make sure that our business is organised, running efficiently and that it operates legally. I also handle the administration of the company, making sure that all emails and registers are completed.
What I have learned from taking part in the programme, what skills have you developed (i.e. composing emails, managing a team etc.)
From taking part in the company programme, I have developed skills such as: problem solving, resilience and teamwork. I have also improved my composing of emails and organisational skills due to my role as company secretary.
What difference has the course made to my life (for example, personal, family or school)
The Young Enterprise company programme has made a difference in my life as I have given my time after school to create a business that runs efficiently and smoothly. It has also had an impact on my personal life as our product is handmade meaning that many people in our business take home the supplies to create our product.
What do I want to do when I leave school and how do you think this programme will help me?
When I leave school, I want to do a job in the science field, by studying science in college and university. I think that this programme will help me when I leave as it can be applied to your C V, therefore showing employers the range of skills, I have gained.
