Work Experience: Lions of 2026

15th September 2025

For the first time in many years, Year 10 spent a week on a work experience placement. Students got to choose and source their own placements if they wished, allowing them to consider the type of role they may wish to pursue after leaving Cansfield. Staff who visited students on their placements were so impressed with the types of activities they were completing and the excellent feedback form employers. The range of placements were varied from architects, schools, transport, mechanics.

This experience has allowed students to explore the world of work and gain insights into different careers. It can help them develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving. By spending time in a real workplace, students build confidence and learn what is expected in a professional environment.

“I enjoyed work experience because it offered a chance to learn what life is like outside of school and being in a workplace. The most enjoyable part was meeting new people and stepping out of my comfort zone. As well as this, personally, I enjoyed the tasks I was given such as ELearning, going on worksites and gaining the courage to deliver presentations to people I’d never met.”
