Our philosophy at Cansfield High School is one of inclusion; we firmly believe that the best way to support all of our students is through quality teaching and we are committed to ensuring that all of our students needs are catered for. We aim to ensure that our students with additional needs are supported to becoming independent and resilient whilst fulfilling their potential academically.

There are two categories of SEND students.  The first is for those students who have a need or condition that can be catered for with quality teaching within the classroom, and the second is for those students who have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) provided by the local authority which gives additional provision for those students with more severe needs.

Mr Forshaw leads a programme of professional development for staff to ensure they are aware of the needs of the students and can continue to developed tailored lessons for all students.
