Always Learning

10th September 2025

It was a time for celebration for some of our staff in July. They have been studying hard for three years in their own time to complete their Masters in Education at Liverpool Hope. It shows how important it is to always have those high aspirations and challenge yourself, even when you find it hard.

Well done to Miss Ferguson, Miss Fairclough, Miss Rose, Mr. Dobinson and Mrs. Ashton.

I have recently completed a Master of Arts in Education, with specialist modules in Autism and Inclusive Learning as well as Leadership and Management. My thesis explored Trauma-Informed Practice in UK Schools: Outcomes, Challenges and Recommendations for Future Implementation.

Throughout my degree, I gained valuable knowledge and practical insights which I have embedded into my current practice. This journey has strengthened my expertise, deepened my passion for inclusivity and pastoral care and given me the confidence to apply evidence-based approaches that make a positive difference in the lives of young people

Miss Ferguson

Having started my course in 2021, I finally graduated in July this year with an MA in Understanding Autism and Educational Leadership and Management. I’m very grateful to Cansfield for giving me the opportunity to pursue my masters. Completing this course has hugely benefitted my teaching by enhancing my knowledge in current educational practices.  It has also been really useful for putting myself in our pupils’ shoes and studying again!

Mrs. Ashton

Mrs. Gladwin also graduated this year and is now qualified as a Specialist Teacher. This will make a massive difference to Cansfield students and will boost our expertise in these area.

I recently graduated from Edgehill University in July, after 18 months studying spLD (Dyslexia) with AMBDA/ATS. These skills, and now status have equipped me with the professional attributes, skills, knowledge, attitudes and confidence necessary to act as a specialist teacher, allowing me to make access arrangements for examinations as well as diagnostic screenings for dyslexia in both my own workplace and other Local Authority settings if needed.

The course has allowed me to develop my expertise to enhance provision in educational settings for learners with specific learning difficulties. It has provided me with a greater understanding of the challenges young people face, and has also enabled me to find solutions to support young people with their particular learning styles.

I have been a member of the Cansfield community for over 10 years, and I am so grateful for the opportunities and growth Cansfield has given me so far. This has been a huge achievement for my personal and professional development.

Miss Gladwin
