At Cansfield High School the views and opinions of our parents really matter. We recognise that the most effective way to teach and engage with our students is in partnership with parents.
Over the last few years our Headteacher, Dr Baker, and members of the Senior Leadership Team have met with parents to share updates on the school and plans for the next stage of the school’s development, along with opportunities for parents to give their views about the shape of the curriculum and the longer term plans for the school. This feedback was then analysed and has been assimilated into our priority areas moving forward. Between September and October 2021 we put on multiple events for each year group in our school community, which were attended by more than 600 families, which a record level of attendance at these events. Further large scale meetings with parents are planned for every year. Parents and carers are also encouraged to visit the school when in operation and take a tour led by the Headteacher so they can see how the school functions on a day to day basis.
The school has recently created a Parent Advisory Board. At present 16 parents are members of the Parent Advisory Board and meet with Dr Baker on a termly basis to further explore ways of improving the school and to garner parent feedback.
If you would like to join the Parent Advisory Board or have any specific feedback you would like to share please feel free to contact Dr Baker on g.baker@cansfield.wigan.sch.uk.
