The new headteacher at a borough school says he hopes to turn it into a “beacon of excellence”.
In June and July Y10 students will have the option to visit 2 colleges of their choice from the 6 we normally supply to.
Consequently next week they will have an assembly each morning to listen what each college has to offer.
- Monday- St John Rigby
- Tuesday- Wigan and Leigh
- Wednesday-St Helens
- Thursday- Winstanley
- Friday- Warrington/Carmel
They will then have till the following Tuesday 8th May to choose and give in their acceptance to the colleges in the gym at dinnertime.
Leading up to National Apprenticeship Week we held our own evening for our Y10 and Y11 students and their parents. Tim Rowbottom from the Department of Work and Pensions gave a presentation about apprenticeships which was followed by the students and parents investigating what opportunites their are with colleges, training providers and employers from the local area.
