SCIENCE GCSE COURSE DETAILS: In Y10 Most students follow AQA specifications to gain "core" science GCSE. This qualification is made up from 6 modules (worth 75%) plus a practical examination (worth 25%)ISA). The six modules cover the areas of biology, chemistry and physics, and are assessed by multiple choice examinations taken in November, March and June of Y10. In Y11 most students follow the AQA specifications to gain "additional" science GCSE. This consists of three modular tests (worth 75%) in biology, chemistry and physics. The remaining 25% comes from the completion of a practical exam (ISA). Some students opt to take triple science GCSE gaining separate GCSEs in biology, chemistry and physics. This will be a two year course made up of the core science and additional science modules, plus three extra modular exams and a third practical examination.
